WHEATGRASS

Wheat or Triticum aestivum is a member of the grass family, wheatgrass is young leaves harvested from newly sprouted wheat plant. It is the next step after germination of the wheat seed which is commonly known as malt.

It was first cultivated for human consumption around the time human began forming civilization circa 10,000 BCE in the fertile area surrounding the Nile, Euphrates and Tigris. The consumption of wheatgrass itself did not become popular in the west until after 1930.

Wheatgrass is rich in vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin E, vitamin K, thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, vitamin B6, pantothenic acid, iron, zinc, copper, manganese and selenium.
