HORNY GOAT WEED
Epimedium grandiflorum popularly known as horny goat weed, fairy wings or yin yan huo, is a flowering plant native of China, but is also found in other parts of Asia and the Mediterranean.
In traditional Chinese medicine it is used as an aphrodisiac and erectile dysfunction, vaginal dryness, as well as other ailments such as bone or kidney disease. Like its name sake “Yang” it is believed to enhance blood circulation.
Epimedium contain Icariin, Icaritin and Desmethylicaritin which are types of flavonoid. In the body this Icariin helps to increase testosterone levels, whilst the combination of the three can help to boost Estrogen level especially in women who are in post menopause.
